It can be a bit of a challenge to find, create or write your own job interview questions. Therefore, this list of sample job interview questions should get your creative juices flowing in the right direction. Feel free to use these sample interview questions in your behavioral job interviews, or adapt them for your individual entrepreneurial needs.

Sample Job Interview Questions To Determine a Job Candidate's Analysis Skills

  1. I'd like to hear about a time when you had to analyze information to make an important decision.
  2. Have you ever taken on an analytical project that wasn't a part of your job description? How did you do? Why did you decide to take on the project? What did you learn?
  3. Do you use numbers, statistics and/or other analysis methods to gather information for decision making purposes? Be specific.
  4. What steps do you normally take to analyze and make a decision? Outline each one for me in detail.
  5. How do you study or troubleshoot problems? Give me an example.
  6. Describe for me one of your most challenging analysis situations. How did you conquer it? Who and what did you use as reference points? Was there anything you could have done to make the process easier in retrospect? What happened?
  7. Discuss a situation where you had to analyze something without any prior instruction, guidance or examples to show you the way. How did you go about it? What happened?
  8. Describe the most challenging analytical problem you've solved, along with the steps you took to solve it.
  9. Tell me about a time when you determined a faster or more efficient way to perform a crucial job duty. What processes did you follow? How did your colleagues react?
  10. Have you ever found a solution to a problem that seemed complex, but ended up being quite simple in the end? Provide details.
  11. Tell me about a situation where your analysis of a project or situation was deemed wrong. What did you do? How did you cope? What steps did you take to correct the problem?
  12. Describe a time when an analytical problem stumped you. What resources did you reference? With whom did you speak with, if anyone? Were you able to solve the problem? If not, did anyone that you know of? What would you do differently now to solve the problem, if anything?
  13. Discuss a situation where you anticipated potential issues with a particular project and in turn created alternative solutions to avoid this situation.
  14. Provide examples of times where you solved a complex analytical problem in a team environment.
