A job that is not satisfying makes it's difficult to gain motivation each day. Do not just be content with work life. Take time to find work that ignites passion.

There are some people who approach the day at work with extreme dread. Chances are great that they have selected the wrong job, probably for several reasons. Sometimes there have been stumbling blocks along the way that have allowed for a sidetrack or two. Don't wait until it's too late to find out what job can add satisfaction to the day. Life is about choices. The Washington Post has suggestions on how make the right choices.

Selfish

When the journey begins, there may initially be feelings of selfishness. Another thing to consider is that this may not be the easiest time to pursue this journey. Planning for it is always a good first step, but do not let alternatives to pursuing the dream get in the way. It's easy to continue doing what has always been done. It is the safe answer. It's time to draw a line in the sand. True change starts inside by finding out what job will allow for the greatest passion.

Explore the Passion

The passion may be within a hobby, or a creative outlet that is pursued. Explore what choices are available or find if creativity can be used to obtain something new. It is sort of a Pandora's Box. Once that box is opened, it will be difficult to sleep at night. People who have found their passion are charged up and ready to pursue it with excitement and enthusiam. Here are a few ways to ignite your passion:

  • Don't wait for the opportunity to knock. Explore interests by getting involved with people who do that type of job. Ask questions to gain insight into how to be successful.
  • Do not allow a poor job match to cloud vision. Make plans to leave the old job. Plan to set back money from paychecks so there is a cushion. Explore cash options and bonus structure and strategically plan the exit strategy. When it's time to leave, don't look back or get caught up in the emotion of leaving the people behind. Take one step forward to move towards the dream.
  • There will be nay sayers who try to put a damper on the pursuit of the dream. Jealousy and envy may show up, but do not let it sway or delay pursuing the passion. Delaying may allow the opportunity to present itself again. Take charge of the situation. Kiplinger has more tips on the pursuit of dream jobs.

Fear of the Unknown

Do not allow the fear of the unknown to prohibit the achievement of the opportunity. The time is now to follow the passion. Utilize a unique business idea or follow an existing business idea better than someone else. It will not feel like work because it is in the heart. Don't wait for the 'aha' moment. Dare to dream the dream, but do the work that is needed to make the dream a reality. It may take money, training, or determination. It may even take a combination of all of those.
