A list of sample job interview questions that focus on the job candidate's control.
Control can take on a wide variety of meanings depending on the job at hand. Perhaps you need a potential staff member to have the ability to exert control over their surroundings in a safety-imperative workplace. Control could also be incredibly important when working with emotionally-laden clients or with the media.
No matter what the situation, the following list of free interview questions for behavioral interviews should get your creative juices flowing in the right direction. Feel free to use these questions word for word in your behavioral interviews, or adapt them for your individual entrepreneurial needs. Having said that, copying and pasting these questions on your own website without credit is not okay.
Sample Job Interview Questions To Determine a Job Candidate's Control and/or Self-Control Skills
- What ideas have you come up with that have increased your, or someone else's productivity? Please be as specific as possible.
- With long term projects, how do you track outcomes and/or goals? Demonstrate using a recent situation.
- Tell me of your methods and systems to keep your calendar and to-do lists in order. How have they failed and what have you done to make them better over time?
- Discuss with us a time when you were told by a client or customer you did something incorrectly. How did you handle the situation?
- Everyone loses focus once in a while. Tell me about a time when you were unable to concentrate on the task at hand, and what you did to conquer the situation.
- When was the last time you were truly angry in the workplace? Why were you angry? What did you do about it? How was the situation resolved?
- We all need some downtime to recharge. Tell me about a time when, at work, you needed to regroup for a little bit. What did you do? How long did it take? Be specific, especially if you have more than one tactic you'd like to share.
- I'd like to know how you keep track of your accounts, clients or staff. Walk me through your process from start to finish.
- You've surely had a workplace where there were many pieces of information to manage at the same time. Discuss your methods of keeping track of ongoing changes in this workplace, and how you kept on top of the paperwork and information stream. Did you ever get behind? What happened?
- What was the most stressful situation you've encountered in the workplace? Tell me about it.
- For managers: What do you use to monitor your employee's progress and performance? Describe to me the timeline and process as you'd use it on a monthly basis.
