The entrepreneur is not someone born with a special gift. Often they have no formal schooling. Yet they are different as they have developed qualities for success.

Everyone envies the entrepreneur. His ability to start a business from scratch and build it into a multimillion dollar enterprise has many people thinking they don't have the skills necessary to do the same thing.

If it wasn't for the entrepreneur, the world would still be languishing in the Dark Ages. Men of vision, such as Thomas Edison or Bill Gates fill an important role in society. They have qualities that improve their chances of success in whatever business they're in. Never born with them, the entrepreneur learns them through application and a great deal of hard work and setbacks.

Starting a business is never easy. Success is never assured. It requires a great deal of self-analysis and education. There are some hard questions that need to be answered before anyone can make a start on a road few people venture to travel. Most anyone can become a successful entrepreneur. Many businesses have started in the depths of depression. Simply by learning and applying the same methods learned by entrepreneurs the world over, it is possible to become an entrepreneurial success.

The Entrepreneur Stands Alone

Entrepreneurs are not anti-social, but they know they need to buck the trend. It's those that are not afraid to step away from the crowd to try something new that are often recognized as heroes once they reach the pinnacle of success. They know that a bad situation can be improved and they're not afraid to stake their lives on their beliefs. Galileo was an entrepreneur. Branded a heretic for proposing the Earth traveled around the sun was not what the authorities of the day wanted to hear.

Entrepreneurs Take Risks

He believes so strongly in what he believes that he's willing to risk all to prove his point. While many people fear to take risks because they fear failure, the entrepreneur sees failure as a tool. He learns from every failure and the more he learn, the closer he moves to success. Thomas Edison performed a thousand experiments before perfecting the light bulb. However, entrepreneurs don't take risks without looking at the chances for success. They know that any decision can go wrong so they take steps that lessen the impact of any failures. But if there is any reassurance that they can succeed, they put in their maximum effort to make their idea succeed. Despite all the odds, many of them succeed beyond what is possible.

The Entrepreneur Uses Money as a Tool

Money has no value unless it is used to enhance life or increase value. This is a lesson that the average citizen doesn't understand. Driving the latest model car or living in a five bedroom house does not make one rich. Entrepreneurs value money not for how much they have in their bank accounts, but for what it can be used for. A dollar spent for a cup of coffee doesn't provide any lasting benefit beyond that of supplying a caffeine kick. Those people who are perpetually poor have no sense of value for money and waste it. The entrepreneur doesn't spend frivolously. If it doesn't bring a return of some kind, he won't spend it. .

Entrepreneurs Are Competitive

Competitiveness is useful as it stimulates growth. The entrepreneur needs it to carve out his niche in the marketplace. However, the entrepreneur doesn't resort to illegal activities or try to crush any competition to get the upper hand. Indeed, they are likely to be more co-operative, than competitive when dealing with the business world. Their brand of competition helps to keep them informed of the latest developments in their chosen field. They don't hesitate to use creative methods to save money, increase market share and provide a better service to their customers. They use competitiveness as a tool to inspire and motivate their staff and employees to improve business.

Entrepreneurs Have a Work Ethic

Unlike people without any desire work 8 hours a day, it's not unusual for the professional business man or woman to work 60 hours or more. Wealth and success comes from every hour worked beyond the typical 40 hour work week. Entrepreneurs are considered to be society's heroes because they are willing to sacrifice daily pleasures. But that doesn't mean they have no home life. They don't abandon their families for the pursuit of money.

Entrepreneurs Value Home Life and Leisure

Few entrepreneurs are so rich that they can fly to distant locations for a weekend getaway. But many know how to set aside time to relax and socialize. Often they combine pleasure with business as with a business lunch. Relaxation and down time helps build the strengths they need to cope with the rigors and stresses of their business life and keep them motivated.

These six elements are all crucial for success. Everyone who wants to embark on an entrepreneurial lifestyle needs to cultivate them.Entrepreneurship has its reward, not for just fame and fortune, but the feeling that the effort taken has helped better society.
