One of the most important decisions you can make as an entrepreneur is choosing to add a member to your team by hiring someone. And with that decision, comes interviewing scores of people in the hopes that they'll meet your company's criteria and needs -- no easy feat.

Therefore, these free interview questions are intended to assist you with the applicant selection process, using behavioral interviews to determine potential employee suitability - specifically in the realm of organization, i.e. how organized are they? Feel free to use these free interview questions in your behavioral job interviews, or adapt them for your own needs.

Sample Job Interview Questions to Determine a Job Candidate's Organizational Skills and Abilities

  1. Describe a situation where you were asked to do several things in the same time frame. How did you prioritize? Were you able to complete all of the tasks asked of you? Why or not why?
  2. Give me a specific example of a time when you were not able to complete a task asked of you. How, if at all, did your behavior and organizational skills change after to ensure this situation never occurred again?
  3. Tell me about a project that taxed your time management skills, and how you were able to complete it.
  4. Discuss with me a project that you got caught up in. Were you able to do anything else at the same time? What was the outcome? How did the rest of your life/work fare?
  5. Tell me about a time when you were able to excel with your time management and organizational skills.
  6. Describe the tools you use to manage your time on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.
  7. How much time do you spend organizing your day? When do you do it? How does your life/work benefit from this time spent? What happens when you don't?
  8. Tell me about a time when you had too many things to do. How did you prioritize your time? Were you able to get everything done?
  9. Share with me a project that you planned from start to finish. How did you organize your time? Describe for me your action plan.
