When starting a business, its important to have some management skills. For those who don't have first hand experience already, here are some management courses to try.

Professional management courses are one of the best ways to get some theoretical knowledge as well as a bit of hands on experience for those looking to work on their entrepreneurship development, or for anyone in need of a bit more meat on their resume. In a nutshell, if an entrepreneur isn't already aware of the tried-and-true practices that have worked for millions of other business owners, then taking a management course or two is a good investment. Plus, most lenders and financial institutions that offer business plan financing require the principal owners to have some formal entrepreneurial development courses under their belt.

So without further ado, here are some excellent entrepreneurship development courses, programs and business skills programs to review and consider:

SCORE Business Workshops

Their tagline is "Counselors to America's Small Business" and that's exactly what this affiliate of the Small Business Association does: proffer advice from retired entrepreneurs to new and fledgling entrepreneurs, in the form of real-world, face to face meetings and workshops, as well as a host of online management courses. Look in the local Yellow Pages for the closest SCORE office.

SBDC Seminars

Another affiliate of the Small Business Administration, the Office of Small Business Development Centers offers local seminars and business management courses to members at cost, as well as a learning-based conference on a yearly basis. To find a nearby location, use this zip code locator.

Small Business Administration Events and Seminars

The SBA is the umbrella government organization in the US that works with most of the larger groups in this list. Because of their breadth and depth, they offer one of the largest free databases of management courses specifically geared towards people wanting to become entrepreneurs, or those business owners wanting to increase profits. In larger metropolitan areas, the SBA also puts on events and seminars of use to business owners. To find a local chapter, check out the Yellow Pages.

Post Secondary Extension Programs and Night Courses

Don't just go for the universities and community colleges here; try for the vocational and technical schools as well, which usually offer hands-on training at a fraction of the cost.

Trade Association Business Management Courses

Locate trade associations specific to the type of business being run or being researched, and then subscribe to the mailing list offered to hear about these types of business management courses without having to put out the initial cash to be a full fledged member yet.

Free Online Business Courses

There are a slew of freebie business management courses to be found online. Some offer accreditation, while others are merely a means to give a kickstart to entrepreneurship development and don't offer anything more than the knowledge they provide. Still, for business owners on a budget, these types of management courses can be just the ticket to moving closer to successful entrepreneurship.
